Most Flexible Data Model

Attio Review 2026: The CRM That Bends to Your Business, Not the Other Way Round

Updated September 2026Pricing verified on attio.com

Most CRMs hand you a fixed set of tables and ask you to fit your business into them. Attio starts from the other end: you define the objects, the attributes and the relationships, and the CRM builds itself around them while pulling contact data in from your inbox and calendar automatically. That is why it has become the default choice for startups whose sales motion does not look like a textbook pipeline. This review covers the four current plans (Free, Plus, Pro, Enterprise), the credits system that catches buyers out, the features that justify the price, and who should still pick HubSpot or Pipedrive instead.

The Short Verdict

Attio is the most flexible CRM we have reviewed and, at the same time, one of the easiest to start using. Those two things rarely go together. Connect Gmail or Outlook and your calendar, and within minutes Attio has built a people-and-companies database from your email history, enriched it with company data, and started keeping it current without anyone typing. From there you shape the system: rename objects, add attributes, build lists that behave like living spreadsheets, and add custom objects for whatever your business actually tracks.

The trade-offs are scope and cost predictability. Attio does not do marketing email or landing pages, its reporting is good rather than deep, and its AI and enrichment features run on a credits allowance that can turn a $35 seat into something closer to $50 once you add a pack. Plus also caps at 10 seats, so a growing team faces a jump to Pro at $79. For a startup or a small team that wants a CRM shaped like its business, none of that is a deal-breaker. For a 50-rep sales floor with a fixed process, HubSpot or Salesforce remain the safer bet.

Bottom line: if you have ever built a CRM in a spreadsheet because the real ones did not fit, buy Attio. If you want sales, marketing and support on one record, start with HubSpot.

What Is Attio?

Attio is a cloud CRM built on a customisable data model rather than a fixed schema. Where a traditional CRM gives you Contacts, Companies and Deals and lets you add fields to each, Attio gives you objects (People, Companies and Deals out of the box, plus custom ones such as Investors, Candidates, Partners or Properties), records inside those objects, attributes on each record, and lists, which are filtered, sortable views of records with their own list-specific attributes. A list is how you run a pipeline, a fundraising round, a hiring process or a partner programme, and you can have as many as you need.

The second idea is real-time sync. Attio reads your Gmail, Google Workspace or Outlook mailbox and calendar and creates or updates People and Company records from the messages and meetings it finds, so the database fills itself. It then enriches those records with public data such as company size, industry, funding, location and social profiles. The result is a CRM that is close to complete before anyone has entered a record by hand, which is the main reason founders adopt it.

On top of that sit the usual sales tools: Kanban and table views for deals, email sequences, a workflow builder, reports, call recording and transcription, an AI assistant called Ask Attio, AI agents that act on records, and mobile apps. The AI features are deep in the product rather than bolted on, but they are also what consume credits.

Who Attio Is (and Isn't) For

A strong fit if you…

  • Run a startup or scale-up whose sales motion does not fit a single linear pipeline, or that also needs to track investors, partners, candidates or customers as separate objects
  • Live in Gmail or Outlook and want the CRM to build and maintain itself from your inbox and calendar
  • Have a founder or ops lead who enjoys shaping tools, in the way Notion or Airtable users do, and wants a CRM that works the same way
  • Want sequences, workflows and permissions at $79 a seat rather than HubSpot Professional at $90 plus a $1,500 onboarding fee
  • Are three people or fewer and want a genuinely useful free plan

Look elsewhere if you…

  • Need email marketing, forms and landing pages inside the CRM (see HubSpot or Zoho CRM)
  • Run a large, process-driven sales floor that needs territory management, CPQ and enterprise-grade admin controls (see Salesforce)
  • Want the simplest possible pipeline for reps who will never open a settings page (see Pipedrive)
  • Need predictable per-seat costs with no usage component at all

Pricing: Free vs Plus vs Pro vs Enterprise

Attio prices per user per month and offers a 20% discount for annual billing. The Free plan is genuinely free and does not expire. There is also a 14-day trial of Pro, and a startup programme that Attio says offers up to 80% off for eligible early-stage companies. Prices below are USD list prices from attio.com in September 2026.

Plus adds private lists and basic access controls. Pro adds call intelligence, sequences, advanced permissions and two connected email accounts per user. Enterprise adds SSO, security and admin controls. Workflows, sequences and AI agents are paid-tier features; Ask Attio is available on every tier.

What a real bill looks like

  • Founding team of 3 on Free: $0. You get the data model, inbox sync, enrichment, three lists-worth of reporting and 200 emails a month. This is enough to run early sales properly.
  • 6-person team on Plus: 6 × $35 = $210 a month, or $2,520 a year, billed annually. On monthly billing it is 6 × $44 = $264. Private lists, 1,000 emails and 15 reports, but no sequences.
  • 15-person team on Pro: 15 × $79 = $1,185 a month, or $14,220 a year. Sequences, call intelligence, permissions and unlimited email. Monthly billing would be $1,485.

Two details shape the bill more than the headline prices. First, Plus stops at 10 seats. The eleventh person does not cost $35; they move the whole team to Pro, so a 10-seat Plus bill of $350 becomes an 11-seat Pro bill of $869. Plan for that cliff if you expect to pass ten users within a year. Second, credits. AI agents, enrichment and certain workflow steps draw on a monthly allowance per seat and per workspace. When a team leans on AI heavily, it buys add-on workspace credits: 5,000 a month for $70 (annual) or $85 (monthly), 10,000 for $120 ($150), 25,000 for $260 ($330), or 50,000 for $475 ($595). A 6-seat Plus team adding the smallest pack pays $280 a month instead of $210.

Which tier should you actually buy?

Free is the right answer for any team of three or fewer; it is not a trial. Plus is for teams of four to ten who need more objects, private lists and higher email limits but are not running outbound sequences. Pro is the tier a real sales team should budget for, because sequences, call intelligence and permissions all live there and the seat cap disappears. At $79 it sits at the same price as Pipedrive Ultimate and below HubSpot Professional. Enterprise is about SSO, security review and admin controls rather than new sales features.

Watch out for: the credits allowance and the 10-seat Plus cap. Neither is hidden, but both are easy to miss when you compare $35 against Pipedrive Growth at $39 or Zoho Professional at $23. If you plan to use AI agents or enrichment across a large database, price a credits pack into the budget from day one. For a wider view of what CRMs really cost, see our CRM cost breakdown.

Features Walkthrough

Records, objects and lists

This is the core. Every object has a table view where columns are attributes and rows are records, and you can add attributes of many types: text, number, currency, select, status, date, rating, location, user and, importantly, record reference, which links records across objects. Lists sit on top of objects and add their own attributes, so the same company can be in a "Sales pipeline" list with a stage and a deal value and in a "Partners" list with a partnership tier. Views can be filtered, grouped, sorted and shown as a table or Kanban. Free allows 3 objects, Plus 5, Pro 12.

Sync and enrichment

Connect an email account and calendar and Attio creates People and Companies from your interaction history, keeps a timeline of emails and meetings on each record, and enriches records with firmographic and profile data. Free and Plus allow one connected email account per user; Pro allows two. This is the feature that makes Attio feel complete on day one and it works well, though enrichment coverage is best for companies with a public web footprint.

Workflows and automations

The workflow builder is a visual canvas of triggers (a record changes, enters a list, a form is submitted, a schedule fires), conditions and actions (update attributes, create tasks, send email, post to Slack, call a webhook, run an AI step). It is closer to a light Zapier or Make than to Pipedrive's simple trigger-and-action rules, and integration blocks let you push data to other tools. Workflows are a paid-tier feature, and AI steps inside them consume credits.

Sequences

Multi-step email sequences with personalisation, send windows and automatic stopping on reply arrive at Pro. That places Attio's sequences at $79 a seat against HubSpot's at $90 plus onboarding and Pipedrive's at $39 (Growth). Email limits matter here: Free is 200 sends a month and Plus 1,000, which is why outbound teams end up on Pro.

Reporting

Reports are built from any object or list and shown on dashboards: pipeline by stage, deals won by owner, activity counts, funnel conversion, plus custom groupings on any attribute. Free allows 3 reports, Plus 15, Pro 100. It covers what a sales lead needs, but there is no forecasting engine of the kind Salesforce or HubSpot Professional provide.

Ask Attio and AI agents

Ask Attio is a natural-language layer over your data: ask which deals went quiet this month or which investors you have not spoken to since spring, and it builds the view or answers directly. AI agents go a step further and take actions on records, such as researching a company and filling attributes, drafting follow-ups or triaging inbound. Both are available across tiers but both draw on credits, so the allowance, not the plan, decides how much AI you actually get.

Call intelligence

On Pro, Attio joins your video calls, records and transcribes them, summarises the conversation and attaches the notes to the right records. It removes the after-call admin that most reps skip, and it is the feature we would most miss moving back to a traditional CRM.

Permissions

Free has no permission controls at all, which is fine for three founders and not fine for a team with contractors. Plus adds basic access controls and private lists; Pro adds granular permissions on objects, lists and attributes; Enterprise adds SSO and admin controls.

Mobile

iOS and Android apps cover records, lists, notes, tasks and the timeline. They are good for looking things up before a meeting and logging notes afterwards, less so for building or editing views, which remains a desktop job.

Ease of Use and Setup

Attio earns a 4.7 here. The first hour is the best onboarding of any CRM we cover: connect an inbox, watch the database appear, rename a couple of objects and you are working. The interface is fast, keyboard-friendly and modern. What holds it back from a perfect score is the flexibility itself: with custom objects, list-specific attributes and a canvas-style workflow builder, a team without a clear owner can build something confusing. The teams that do best spend a day on the data model up front and keep one person responsible for it.

Integrations and API

Attio integrates natively with Gmail, Google Workspace, Outlook and Microsoft 365 for mail and calendar, Slack for notifications and workflow actions, and Zapier and Make for everything else, and it offers importers from HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive and CSV. The REST API and webhooks are well documented and map cleanly onto the data model. Where it lags is breadth: no first-party marketing suite, no native telephony beyond call recording on video meetings, and a far smaller catalogue of turnkey connectors than HubSpot's or Salesforce's. Expect to lean on Zapier, Make or your own code beyond the core.

Support

Support is by in-app chat and email on all plans, with faster responses and a named contact on Enterprise. Documentation is clear and release notes are worth reading because the product changes often. There is no phone support and no partner ecosystem to hire implementation help from, so a team that wants hands-on setup will be better served by HubSpot or Salesforce. For a self-sufficient startup, the support level is adequate.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Custom objects and lists model businesses that other CRMs cannot
  • Inbox and calendar sync builds and maintains the database automatically
  • Free plan for 3 seats with no expiry
  • Fast, modern interface that founders and ops teams enjoy using
  • Sequences, call intelligence and permissions at $79, below HubSpot Professional
  • Clean API and importers from HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive

Cons

  • Credits system makes heavy AI or enrichment use a variable cost
  • Plus caps at 10 seats; the eleventh user forces Pro at $79
  • No marketing email, forms or landing pages
  • Reporting is good, not deep; no forecasting engine
  • Smaller integration marketplace than HubSpot or Salesforce
  • No phone support or partner network for implementation

Attio vs the Alternatives

ToolStarting priceFree planChoose it over Attio when…
HubSpot CRMFree; $9Yes (2 users)Marketing and sales need to share one record and one tool
Pipedrive$14No (14-day trial)You want the simplest pipeline for reps and sequences at $39
Salesforce$25No (30-day trial)You are building a large, process-heavy sales org with an admin
folk$20No (14-day trial)You want a similarly modern CRM with a lower entry price and lighter needs

Attio vs Salesforce is the comparison founders ask about most, and it is really a question of stage. Salesforce Starter Suite at $25 is cheaper per seat than Attio Plus, and Sales Cloud gives an enterprise everything from territories to CPQ, but it assumes an admin and a fixed process. Attio assumes neither. Most startups are better off in Attio until their sales organisation is large enough to justify a Salesforce admin, and Attio's Salesforce importer exists for the move in the other direction too.

Is Attio free?

Yes, with limits: 3 seats, 50,000 records, 3 objects, 200 emails a month, 3 reports, and 100 seat credits per user plus 250 workspace credits per month. It never expires. Workflows and sequences need a paid plan.

Is Attio good for startups?

Yes. Three founders can run the free plan, the data model fits unusual sales motions, and the startup programme offers up to 80% off. Watch the 10-seat cap on Plus, which forces Pro at $79. See our best CRM for startups guide.

What is Attio used for?

Tracking people, companies, deals and custom objects such as investors, candidates or partners, with contact data synced from Gmail or Outlook and enriched automatically. Teams also use it for sequences, workflows and AI-assisted research on records.

Attio vs HubSpot: which is better?

HubSpot if marketing, sales and support need one record and you want a free plan for two users. Attio if you want a custom data model and sequences at $79 rather than HubSpot Professional at $90 plus $1,500 onboarding. See the full comparison.

What are Attio credits?

Credits are the usage currency for AI agents, enrichment and some workflow steps. Each plan includes a monthly allowance per seat and per workspace. Extra workspace credits cost from $70 a month for 5,000, billed annually.

Final Verdict

Attio earns its 4.3 by solving the problem that makes people hate CRMs: the data. It builds the database from your inbox, keeps it current, and lets you shape it around how your business works. Startups and small teams with a non-standard model should trial it first and budget for Pro at $79 once they need sequences or pass ten seats. Teams that want marketing in the same tool, or an enterprise playbook, should look at HubSpot or Salesforce. Either way, price the credits before you commit.
