Pick Freshsales if your team sells by phone and you want calling, email and chat inside the contact record for $9 a seat; it scores 4.1 in our review. Pick Zoho CRM if you want more features at every tier, AI included from $23, and fifty-plus business apps behind it; it scores 4.2.
Zoho CRM and Freshsales are the two cheapest full CRMs we have reviewed, and both give three users a free plan. They are not the same bet, though. Freshsales bets that a rep should call, email and chat from one screen without buying a dialer. Zoho bets that you will want quoting, process enforcement, AI and a suite of other business apps once you grow.
Below we price every tier at 1, 5 and 20 seats, then compare ease of use, features, integrations and support. Facts come from our full Zoho CRM review and Freshsales review, scored with the same weighted rubric. Pricing verified Sept 2026.

Pricing
Both vendors quote annual billing. Zoho's editions are Free ($0, up to 3 users), Standard $14, Professional $23, Enterprise $40 and Ultimate $52 per user per month; monthly billing is $20, $35, $50 and $65. Freshsales' plans are Free ($0, up to 3 users), Growth $9, Pro $39 and Enterprise $59, and Freshworks advertises roughly 20% savings for annual over monthly. Freddy AI is a separate $49 per 100 sessions.
Neither tool has a seat minimum, so the sum is seats multiplied by the per-seat price. Five reps on Freshsales Growth: 5 × $9 = $45 a month, or $540 a year. The same five on Zoho Standard: 5 × $14 = $70, or $840 a year. Move both to the mid tier and the order flips: 5 × $39 = $195 on Freshsales Pro against 5 × $23 = $115 on Zoho Professional. Both free plans stop at 3 users.

| Freshsales Enterprise $59 | $59 | $295 | $1,180 |
The tier you will actually need decides the winner. If Growth is enough — phone, email, chat, custom fields, a Kanban pipeline, basic automation and reports — Freshsales is the cheapest paid CRM we have reviewed, at $180 a month for 20 seats. The moment you need contact scoring, sequences, territories or multiple pipelines, Freshsales moves you to Pro at $39. Zoho gives you multiple pipelines, scoring rules and forecasting at Standard ($14), and quoting, Blueprint and AI at Professional ($23). Past the entry tier, Zoho is cheaper at every seat count. Both bill telephony minutes beyond the plan allowance by usage, so a high-volume outbound floor should model call costs too.
Ease of use
Freshsales scored 4.5 in our review, second only to HubSpot and Pipedrive. Zoho scored 3.5.
Freshsales organises people by lifecycle stage rather than forcing a lead-to-contact conversion, which small teams find easier to explain. The interface is uncluttered. In our test account, connecting email and buying a phone number took minutes, and a small team could be calling from the CRM within an afternoon. Complexity rises modestly with Pro's territories and sequences, but nothing here needs an admin.
Zoho uses the classic model: leads convert to contacts, accounts and deals. Getting to a clean pipeline with email connected and a couple of workflows took most of a day, and we consulted the documentation more than once. The reward is a system you can shape to almost any process, if someone on your team is willing to do the shaping.
Features that matter
The differences show up in what each tool includes at $9, $14, $23 and $39.
| Feature | Zoho CRM | Freshsales |
|---|---|---|
| Pipelines | Multiple pipelines from Standard ($14) | Kanban pipeline on Growth; multiple pipelines on Pro ($39) |
| Phone, email and chat | Email and built-in calling from Standard; SalesSignals for social and chat | Phone, email and chat in one record from Growth ($9) |
| Automation | Workflow rules on Free; Blueprint process enforcement on Professional | Workflow automation from Growth; more workflows on higher tiers |
| Outreach | Mass email from Standard | Sales sequences mixing calls, emails and tasks on Pro |
| Lead scoring | Scoring rules on Standard ($14) | Contact scoring on Pro ($39); AI scoring needs the Freddy add-on |
| Forecasting | Sales forecasting on Standard ($14) | Forecasting insights on Enterprise ($59) |
| AI | Zia agents on Professional; predictions on Enterprise; none on Free or Standard | Freddy AI add-on, $49 per 100 sessions, at every tier |
| Reporting | Custom reports on Standard; unlimited on Professional | Standard reports on Growth; custom reports and deal insights on Pro |
Zoho wins most rows because it pushes features down the ladder: scoring, forecasting and multiple pipelines arrive at $14, where Freshsales asks $39 or $59. Zoho Professional also adds products, price books, quotes and CPQ. Freshsales wins the two rows that matter most to an outbound team: the phone in the record from $9, and Pro's call-and-email sequences.

Integrations
Zoho's integration story is mostly Zoho. More than fifty of its own apps — Books, Desk, Campaigns, Projects, Sign — share contacts and accounts with the CRM natively, and the Zoho One bundle prices the whole suite per employee. Third-party connectors cover Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, QuickBooks, Mailchimp and Zapier, though some integrations work best inside Zoho.
Freshsales' natural pairing is Freshdesk for support, plus Freshchat and Freshmarketer, sharing customer records across sales and service. Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, Slack, Zapier, QuickBooks, Mailchimp and DocuSign are covered. The marketplace is noticeably smaller than HubSpot's 2,000-plus or Salesforce's AppExchange.
We scored Zoho 4.0 and Freshsales 3.5. Both are strongest inside their own family, so the practical question is which family you are already in. Freshdesk customers should lean Freshsales; anyone running Zoho Books or Desk should lean Zoho. If you use neither and your stack is unusual, check for connectors first.
Support
Zoho includes standard email and web support on every edition, and sells Premium and Enterprise support plans that add faster response times, phone and onboarding help. User reports and our own experience agree that response times on the basic plan can be slow. We scored support 3.5.
Freshsales scored 4.0. Its 21-day trial, the longest on our list, gives you three weeks to test response times before you pay, and the Enterprise plan adds a dedicated account manager.
Who should pick Zoho CRM
- Teams that want mid-tier features without mid-tier prices: multiple pipelines, scoring rules and forecasting at $14.
- Product and B2B businesses that need quotes, price books and CPQ in the CRM.
- Anyone who wants AI in the plan price, starting with Zia agents at Professional ($23).
- Companies already using Zoho Books, Desk or Campaigns, or planning to.
- Teams growing past 10–20 seats, where $23 against $39 compounds every month.
Skip Zoho if you want the fastest setup, or if you rely on quick support and will sit on a lower edition.
Who should pick Freshsales
- Outbound and phone-first teams: insurance, recruiting, real estate, B2B appointment setting.
- Small teams that want a CRM and a dialer for $9 a seat instead of two subscriptions.
- Freshdesk customers who want sales and support on shared records.
- Anyone who values a clean interface and a 21-day trial to prove adoption.
- Teams whose needs fit Growth and will not soon need territories, forecasting or custom modules.
Skip Freshsales if you need a large marketplace, AI in the plan price, or deep customization.
Decision rule: count your calls, then count your seats. If reps spend most of the day dialling and your team fits Growth, buy Freshsales; $45 a month for five seats with a phone included is hard to beat. If you will need scoring, forecasting, quoting or AI within a year, buy Zoho; Professional at $23 undercuts Freshsales Pro by $16 a seat.
Frequently asked questions
Is Freshsales cheaper than Zoho CRM?
At the entry tier, yes: Freshsales Growth is $9 per user per month against Zoho Standard at $14, so five seats cost $45 versus $70. The order flips on the mid tier, where Zoho Professional is $23 and Freshsales Pro is $39, or $115 versus $195 for five seats. Both have a free plan for up to 3 users, so the cheapest option for a very small team is $0 on either.
Do Zoho CRM and Freshsales both have free plans?
Yes, and both stop at 3 users. Zoho's free edition includes contact and lead management, follow-up reminders, basic workflow automation, email templates, standard reports and mobile apps. Freshsales' free plan includes contact and account management, lifecycle stages, an activity timeline, a Kanban view and a mobile app. Neither free plan includes built-in calling; that starts on the first paid tier of each.
Which CRM includes built-in calling, Zoho or Freshsales?
Both do on their paid tiers. Freshsales includes phone, email and chat in the contact record from Growth at $9. Zoho adds built-in telephony at Standard for $14. In both cases, minutes beyond the plan allowance are billed by usage, so a high-volume outbound floor should price its call volume first. Freshsales is the cheaper way to get a phone inside the CRM.
Which has better AI, Zoho's Zia or Freshsales' Freddy?
Zoho includes Zia AI agents in the plan price from the Professional edition at $23, with predictions and anomaly detection at Enterprise for $40. Freshsales sells Freddy AI as an add-on at $49 per 100 sessions on every tier, so it is never included. If you want AI in the plan price, Zoho Professional is the answer; if you only need occasional scoring and drafting, Freddy's pay-per-use model may cost less.
Which is easier to set up, Zoho CRM or Freshsales?
Freshsales. It scored 4.5 for ease of use in our review against 3.5 for Zoho. In our test account, connecting email and buying a phone number took minutes, and a small team could be calling from the CRM within an afternoon. Zoho took most of a day to reach a clean pipeline with email and workflows connected, and we consulted the documentation more than once.
Conclusion
Freshsales is the better first CRM for a small team that sells by phone: $9 a seat, calling in the record, a clean interface and three weeks to prove it works. Zoho CRM is the better CRM to grow into: more at $14 than most tools offer at $39, quoting and AI at $23, and a suite of business apps waiting behind it.
If your team fits Growth today and your process is simple, buy Freshsales. If you can already see the day you need forecasting, scoring or quotes, buy Zoho and skip a migration. To see how both compare with Pipedrive, HubSpot, Salesforce and monday, read our best CRM software ranking.
